The Batty Verdict · Lottie Batty · Sally Rooney
Intermezzo review
Intermezzo
I read it in two sittings and argued with it, which is a compliment.
8/104.3 / 5
Intermezzo splits readers the way Sally Rooney books do. A lot of the long reviews say the sentences are the point, and the brothers, and the grief. A lot of the short ones say it is too long and too pleased with itself. I read it in two sittings and argued with it, which is why it stayed on the list.People who loved it mention the chess, the two brothers, and a tone they recognised. People who didn't mention the length and a feeling that not enough happens. Both are describing the same book. If you already dislike Rooney, this will not convert you. If you like her, the arguments in the reviews are part of the fun.
